Changing and Growing

This year, Barn Arts continued a partnership with educators at the Trenton School for a project designed specifically for the Trenton campus. After meeting with teachers Snow Ross and Lacey Schlag, Andrew Simon began working with students in the 2nd and 4th grade to develop work for a multi-disciplinary event in the spring.

For four weeks, 24 students worked on performance, writing, movement, and visual art to develop a piece called Changing and Growing. The students drew inspiration from their school curriculum, which was focused on climate change, and developed materials for a mural to cover a new fence at the school. They worked with local artist Piper Charron to design and paint the mural and present it with an original performance piece at a community event.
